One of our Talking About My Generation reporters, Carole Ogden from Bolton, is calling on over 50s who want to get creative to join her poetry challenge and rewrite what it means to grow older.

Kicking off on October 1, Older People’s Day, and continuing every day throughout the month, Carole will share a new prompt – from starter lines to pictures – on her wordpress site.

Budding writers’ mission, should they choose to accept it, is to write a short poem, piece or story – in whatever style they like – in response. They can share on Twitter and Facebook using #MyGenChallenge or by commenting on the challenge website.

Carole says: “I hope people will join in and spread the word to others. Although I am Bolton-based, and we are encouraging over-50s from all round Greater Manchester to take part, the joy of the internet is that anyone can join in and share.

“We really just want to get people writing – trying new things and being creative in later life.”

People interested in getting involved are invited to ‘follow’ Carole’s website to receive the daily prompts or contact Talking About My Generation project lead, Grace on grace@yellowjigsaw.co.uk
