WATCH: Mini reporters interview Greater Manchester Lord-Lieutenant

Mini reporters from our Media Cubs project had the pleasure of hosting a virtual press conference with the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins.

The Lord-Lieutenant is responsible for arranging visits by members of the Royal family and escorting Royal visitors ensuring that the monarch’s Private Office is kept informed about local issues relating to their area, particularly when a Royal visit is being planned.

Diane shared insights about her career and her passion for making a difference in the community.

The reporters were also sure to throw in a few of our favourite fun questions that no one in our hotseat can hide from!

Kirsty Day, project lead, said: “The kids were so excited to interview Diane and she embraced all of their questions! They were very excited to hear her talk about the Queen and what she was like.

“This press conference was the perfect chance for little people to ask big questions, which is what we love to see in our newsroom.”

With thanks to Diane Hawkins and Manchester City Council for this opportunity.
