MANCHESTER

Invest in innovation: invest in women with WSSE

Women Supporting Social Entrepreneurs (WSSE) network supports women to drive social entrepreneurship through events, mentoring and investment- all of which are developed at grass roots level. WSSE is holding a Celebration and Showcasing Event 9th March 6-8pm at The Landing, Media City, where the 2016 CrowdFunding campaign will be officially launched! Women take over Reform Radio: #Thatswhatshesaid

If you haven’t already tuned in to Reform Radio, where have you been? RR are more than just great to listen to; they’re great for society, too; as a not-for-profit company that delivers employment and creative workshops and traineeships to young people. RR will be playing 24 hours of the best female artists, as well as featuring podcasts of women from all walks of life.

Tune in at The Sanctuary, Lancaster

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2016, Tuesday 8 March, we are showcasing a range of short films from a recently uncovered and newly-digitised collection of films by female amateur filmmakers at 10.45, 11.30 and 12.15.  These will be followed by Suffragette (2015) at 6.30pm in The Sanctuary at Lancaster library.

Art events at Oxheys Mill Studios

Celebrate #IWD at Oxheys Mill Studios in Preston for a series of day long activities, including an exhibition of contemporary art, curated by International artist Lubaina Himid MBE , a Talk & Tour linking other contemporary art venues in the city, to include the Making Histories Visible project at the University of central Lancashire, the Birley studios and the Harris Museum & Gallery, and a Private View party 6-8pm.

Women’s Organisation: ‘A celebration of pioneering women’

This International Women’s Day join The Women’s Organisation for a glass of wine and raise a toast to inspirational and pioneering women in business, as part of our 20th birthday celebrations!

The event will feature an esteemed panel including Anna Heyes, founder and Managing Director of Active Profile PR agency, Executive Pro-Vice Chancellor from the University of Liverpool, and will be chaired by Pamela Ball, founder of the Liverpool branch of the Women’s Equality Party.
