Yellow Jigsaw project partners with Manchester Literature Festival 2022

Our project Media Cubs has teamed up with Manchester Literature Festival 2022, offering young people we work with an opportunity to put their reporting hats on.

We are so excited to see the return of the festival to the city and are even more excited to be collaborating with them – where Media Cubs mini reporters will be reviewing and filming a special workshop at Z-Arts and interviewing author and illustrator – Aaron Blecha.

The children will be joining an interactive, immersive exploration into the mind of the popular children’s author and illustrator.

And as part of the Aliens, Zombies and Monsters Hunt workshop, the Z-arts gallery space will be filled with life-sized aliens, zombies and monsters that are ready to mingle with visitors of all ages.

Our mini media crew will be beaming aboard an alien spaceship, taking a photo amongst the monster mayhem and becoming part of a zombie family – and will take you on the journey with us by creating a report of the day.

Kirsty Day, project leader for Media Cubs, said: “We are so excited to be partnering with Manchester Literature Festival, so many of our mini reporters love to immerse themselves in books and also creating their own stories and illustrations so they are looking forward to interviewing Aaron and getting him to reveal the tricks of the trade and inspiring their future work and the future work of many children across Greater Manchester.

“It will also be great to be back working with Z-Arts and we can’t wait for our exclusive tour and monster and zombie hunt!”

Aaron will be giving visitors to the workshop a unique peek into the process behind illustration work – starting from initial ideas and sketches to creating believable characters, then developing layouts and final completed pages.
