Media Cubs is launching an academy to train future club leaders who share our passion for helping young people broadcast confidence.

After a year of working with Media Cubs mini reporters running national campaigns, holding their own press conferences with political leaders, and hosting weekly newsroom sessions via Zoom – we’re ready to train more adults to become Media Cubs leaders!

The Media Cubs Leaders Academy will begin w/c 22nd March 2021 and will be delivered flexibly through a combination of 12 hours of virtual, group, and independent learning.

Each MC Leader will receive a Leaders’ Handbook packed full of lesson plans, session activities, and guidance.

Once trained, MC Leaders will be able to deliver Media Cubs clubs as sessional workers as we expand our Media Cubs coverage virtually, in schools, and in the community in 2021 and 2022.

Media Cubs project leader ‘Big Boss’, Kirsty Day, said: “This past year has been jam-packed with working with our mini reporters in various ways through the pandemic to ensure we continued to give them a voice and a platform to learn how to create, debate and navigate the news with confidence. So, I am delighted that we now have the opportunity to expand our newsroom team by recruiting Media Cubs team leaders. A role I can honestly say is fun, rewarding and inspiring.”

Places on the Media Cubs Leader Academy are fully funded and we will fund DBS-checks for every MC Leader. Limited places are available. No previous journalism experience required.
